While son Henry was fishing for trout at Myrtle Beach on the Smith River coming back from Oregon to California, mama Adriana gathered river rocks and bush branches. This is the story of a beautiful river softening and smoothing rocks as it heads toward the Pacific Ocean.
Back at home, the river stones and a branch were pressed into clay for an imprint, then bisque fired to create a negative. Then a slab of clay was rolled onto the design for a positive imprint.
Measuring 10x9", this platter is made of a light B-Mix clay, with designs accentuated by underglazes, then glazed in Yellow Salt, Gary's Blue, and Douglas Celadon, and fired to cone 10.
15% of every sale goes to the fantastic Mendocino College Ceramics Program to support inspiring workshops led by artists and open to the public.
